Originally founded by saxophonist/composer Rich Cohen and pianist/composer Chris Rutkowski as Cohen-Rutkowski Music, CRP Music has has evolved into several manifestations. The Project focuses on sophisticated but high-energy acoustic jazz with a strong component of originals. The CRP Mix is a hard-grooving R&B based ensemble and The Mix is an events band that can equally satisfy the cultured listener and rock the dance floor! The Duo (sax/piano) covers all these bases in a more intimate manner.

Press/Media/Testimonials
"I suspected it would be good to catch the Cohen-Rutkowski Project again at the Jazz Kitchen, but I'd forgotten it had been so long ago as the Covid-emergent era of November 2021. It proved well worth a return visit, as this well-stocked, mutually supportive group commendably held down the one-set Sunday night spot at the club yesterday...The set ended with Rutkowski's "Copacetic," a piece that made me a fan in 2021."

"We loved having you with us at the Columbia Club. Your piano music was a lovely touch!"

Diana Gingerich, Senior Manager of Events, Heartland Film Festival
"You always bring such a magical feel - you made the evening so special and I'm so thankful!!! Here's to more collaborating in 2025!!
Kate Baker, Executve Director, Noblesville Main Street. 12/14/24
"Just spent another delightful evening listening to Cohen-Rutkowski. This time at the Prewitt in Plainfield, IN, twice before at Sara’s Soiree (!!) in Noblesville. Two very solid musicians that perform sometimes as a duo and sometimes as part of a larger ensemble (Cohen-Rutkowski Project). If you like jazz (or just like good music in general) go hear them next opportunity. They’re the real deal"

"JAZZ! Heard the Cohen-Rutkowski Project last weekend with singer Sandra Lomax! Guys, this was a real treat: new, original music interspersed with loved favorites...The musical talent was wonderful! And when Sandra sang a duet with Cohen's sax, it was a special delight."

"OMG what a great show! Sandy Lomax is a delight to hear, and the whole set was a happy combination of original sounds and highly skilled performers. The audience enthusiastically appreciated every song, every instrumental. Please come back, we need more of this!"

"Take 5 and The Nearness of You were amazing! We were watching at The Prewitt!"
From audience member comment on Venmo (7/11/25)
The newly formed Cohen-Rutkowski Project introduced us to solo licks from a center flow and extended it through to its exit as a continuum out of our earshot; gracefully balletic is the best way I can describe what was happening as pianist Chris Rutkowski and saxophonist Rich Cohen took us into their private conversation"
Rita Kohn, NUVO Review, Cohen-Rutkowski Project + Sandy Lomax at the Jazz Kitchen (1/29/23)
Rich and Chris return to the very fine WICR radio program in May, 2023, "Have You Heard" for an hour-long interview and lots of music from the Project featuring Sandy Lomax. Listen
In his review of our Indy Jazz Kitchen Halloween 2021 performance, Jay Harvey notes "Rutkowski's tendency to find fresh ways of being funky at the piano...and ...Cohen's searching yet emotionally settled improvisation...sent a large, appreciative crowd happy out into the chilly night air."
